Stoopid Buddy & Nouns Show Off Short Shorts June 13

Pop on your Noggles and prepare for a night of animated comedy, magic and ice cream when Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (creators of Robot Chicken) and Nouns Stories present the Nouns Short Shorts festival next month. More than a dozen new, 15-second films will debut at the event on Tuesday, June 13, at Los Angeles’ Brain Dead Theatre.

Funded by avant-garde collective Nouns, the 17 comedic films comprising this first round of animated “Short Shorts” were selected for production in an interactive community event. More than 60 artists from around the world submitted their concepts, and the Nouns community themselves awarded funding to 10 projects through the open-source, Nouns-funded technology, Prop House.

In addition to these community-curated films, seven additional shorts were commissioned by the Nouns Stories team, a collective powerhouse including Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, former Adult Swim SVP Walter Newman, Pixel Studios, Joel Cares and Joshua Fisher.

Nouns Short Shorts Season 1 creators include:

  • Sam Cotton (Ani-Mates)
  • Two-time BAFTA winner Rich Webber (Bench, Shaun the Sheep)
  • Oscar nominee Lachlan Pendragon (An Ostrich Told Me the World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It)
  • Patagraph (Victor Haegelin)
  • Aïcha Wijland
  • Anna Cangellaris (Sophie)
  • Brian Tessler (Cool 3D World)
  • Lee Puffer
  • 3D Print Guy
  • Award-winning illustrator/animator Tone Segurado
  • Erin Taylor & Adam Taylor
  • Mike Greaney (YOLO: Silver Destiny)
  • Lumberfly
  • Ainslie Henderson (I Am Tom Moody, Stems)
  • Lil Bubble
  • AoN Studios X Shark Animation
  • Dru Shaw (Kitty Is Not a Cat) X Tobias Krebs (SpongeBob SquarePants)

The creators of these Short Shorts were allowed to retain full creative control and ownership of their work, while being funded. With over $30,000 in additional Awards set to be announced at the Short Shorts Festival for animators that declare their works CC0 (copyright free), Nouns Stories hopes to provide a robust foundation for future creatives.
