‘Blue Eye Samurai’s Cinematic New Trailer & Official Soundtrack Unsheathed

Netflix this morning unveiled the official trailer for Blue Eye Samurai, the new adult animated epic that explores themes of identity, social stigma and vengeance against an animated backdrop of Edo-period Japan. The show’s soundtrack is now available to stream, offering viewers a taste of the streamer’s latest cinematic animation feat.

Created by executive producers/writers Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) and Amber Noizumi, Blue Eye Samurai premieres on Netflix on November 3.

The historical drama follows Mizu (voiced by PEN15 co-creator Maya Erskine), a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking the deliverance of revenge. The series voice cast also features George Takei, Masi Oka, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet, Randall Park, Kenneth Branagh, Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, Harry Shum Jr.  and Mark Dacascos.

Erwin Stoff is executive producer alongside Noizumi and Green. Jane Wu is supervising director and producer. The animation is produced by France’s Blue Spirit (The Painting, The Prince’s Voyage, My Life as a Zucchini).

The official soundtrack composed by Amie Doherty features 25 tracks, and is available to listen now via download or streaming on Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music and more. (Find it here.)
