Yo-Yo Ma Shares the Magic of Music with ‘Pinkalicious & Peterrific’

This week is looking rosy for fans of Pinkalicious & Peterrific, with four brand-new episodes due to debut this week on PBS KIDS, pbskids.org and the PBS KIDS App. One of these episodes will even welcome a very special musical guest star!

Airing Friday, October 6, “Yo-Yo’s Musical Journey” finds Pinkalicious worried when her community’s Kazoo Club just can’t seem to get along in time to play together for the concerto. Pinkalicious receives some help from Yo-Yo Ma to learn about the magic of music and the power it has to bring people together.

The interstitial for the episode also features the 19-time Grammy Award-winning cellist himself, as he plays with a group of Boston-area elementary school-aged kids and they discuss the impact music can have in making someone feel different kinds of emotions.

Now in its fifth season, Pinkalicious & Peterrific is based on the Pinkalicious books series by Victorian Kann & Elizabeth Kann. Produced by Sixteen South in association with WGBH Kids, the series encourages children ages three to five to engage in self-expression and creative arts — such as music, dance, theater and visual arts — as they follow the adventures of imaginative, artistic and pinktastically unique Pinkalicious and her little  brother, Peter.
