Selected Projects Announced for 6th CEE Animation Workshop

The CEE Animation Workshop has entered it’s sixth year with a new selection of participants and animated projects in development. The program once again welcomes projects and participants from different countries, while maintaining a focus on the Central & Eastern European region and low production capacity countries. Among 38 applications from 26 countries, the organizers have carefully selected 12 projects and 28 participants from 13 countries who will attend the 2024 edition.

“We are looking forward to starting the new edition of the CEE Animation Workshop with such a diverse group of inspiring projects and participants,” says Saša Bach, the Managing Director of the CEE Animation Workshop. “It is especially thrilling to welcome the first XR project attending our program. We are preparing a rich and intense training for 2024 and are excited to visit Lithuania and Croatia during our residential modules this year. There, we will put a spotlight on their animation industries.”

The 12 projects include four animated short films, one animated series, one TV special, five animated feature films and one animated XR film. There will also be two career-oriented participants joining the line-up.

CEE Animation Workshop 2024 participants

The sixth CEE Animation Workshop will build on the foundations from the previous five years of successful training sessions. By means of expert lectures, moderated discussions, collaborative group work and personalized consultations, participants will receive invaluable feedback and opportunities to enhance their understanding of the animation industry. Tailored to meet the specific needs of animation professionals, the program will see the selected projects from their early stages to the final developed production package, ready to access the market. The two career-focused participants will also benefit from individualized mentoring sessions aimed at refining their career trajectories and company strategies.

Producers Tonje Skar Reiersen (Mikrofilm, Norway) and Corinne Destombes (Folimage, France), along with experienced script consultants Phil Parker (United Kingdom) and Rita Domonyi (Hungary), are reprising their roles as group leaders, bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to guide participants.

The workshop will comprise four modules across two online and two on-site weeks. The first module will be taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania, between February 26 and March 2. In addition to more than 30 representatives of the local animation industry, guest lecturers for the first module include Jeremy Clapin (France), Edmunds Jansons and Sabine Andersone (Atom Art, Latvia), Luca Toth (Hungary), Agne Adomene (Art Shot, Lithuania), Kristel Toldsepp (A Film, Estonia), Ulrich Michel (Noerr, Denmark) and Ben Morris (U.K.)

The second residential module will take place between July 29 – August 4 on the Croatian seaside.

CEE Animation Workshop is organized with the support of Creative Europe – MEDIA Program of the European Union. The CEE Animation Workshop 2024 is supported by Lithuanian Film Center, Croatian Audiovisual Centre and the Ministry of Public Administration, Republic of Slovenia.
