Crunchryoll Launches English-Dub ‘Dragon Ball Super,’ New ‘Solo Leveling’ Doc

Crunchyroll announced today that the English-language dub for Dragon Ball Super is arriving on its streaming service, starting today (March 5) at 1 p.m. PST. Previously only available in Japanese with subtitles, subscribers can now stream all episodes of this dub in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, with other regions to follow.

The Dragon Ball Super dub cast features returning English language voice actors from the classic Dragon Ball series, including Sean Schemmel as Goku and Christopher R. Sabat as Piccolo and Vegeta. The latest series also introduced new voice actors to the Dragon Ball universe when it was released in 2015, including Matthew Mercer as Hit and David Gray as Zamasu.

The roster also features Christopher Ayres as Frieza, Kyle Hebert as Gohan, Jason Douglas as Beerus, Monica Rial as Bulma, Sonny Strait as Krillin, Eric Vale as Future Trunks and Patrick Seitz as Jiren.

Synopsis: After 18 years, we have the newest Dragon Ball story from creator Akira Toriyama.

The anime platform today also premiered its exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary series The Leveling of Solo Leveling, available from 3:30 p.m. PST. This two-part series delves into the creative journey of the hit anime series Solo Leveling.

Synopsis: Spanning Korea and Japan, The Leveling of Solo Leveling offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of this beloved franchise. Exploring its beginnings as a web novel to its success as a webtoon and now its latest incarnation as an anime, the documentary provides an inside look at the phenomenon that has captured the hearts of fans worldwide.

The Leveling of Solo Leveling features interviews with more than 20 individuals, ranging from fans to the creators and producers behind Solo Leveling. The documentary visits D&C Media and Redice Studio in Korea, shedding light on the adaptation from text to visual media. The story continues in Japan, offering insights from the teams at Crunchyroll, Aniplex and A-1 Pictures, as well as the anime’s director, Shunsuke Nakashige, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the adaptation process.

The docuseries is presented by Crunchyroll in collaboration with Paris-based production company  AllSo. The studio previously lent its digital experience and documentary production expertise to pop culture projects with Ubisoft and Red Bull.
