‘Bluey Minisodes’ Coming to Disney on Heels of Peabody Award Win

Disney Branded Television has announced brand-new Bluey Minisodes, coming this July to Disney Junior and Disney+. The collection includes 20 one- to three-minute shorts written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio.

The Bluey Minisodes highlight funny and sweet moments featuring Bluey and Bingo, leaning into playful interactions and games that further explore the characters and world of Bluey. The shorts feature some new characters alongside fan favorites, including Unicorse, Nana and Bob Heeler, and moments such as dad Bandit getting a “tattoo” and even a special look inside Bluey and Bingo’s dreamhouse from “Escape.”

The launch of these shorts follow the debut of Bluey’s first extended-length episode, “The Sign,” in April. The special ranks as the most-viewed Bluey and Disney Junior episode premiere of all time, with 10.4 million views (per Nielsen).

In tandem with this morning’s minisodes announcement, it was revealed that Bluey is one of the 2024 Peabody Award winners. The year’s honors will be celebrated on June 9 in a Los Angeles ceremony hosted by Kumail Nanjiani. One of 34 award recipients, Bluey was recognized in the Children/Youth category. The jury statement reads:

“Creator Joe Brumm’s endearing family of animated Australian dogs have captivated both children and adults for years in episodes equally delightful and heartrending. Very little feels off the table, as Bluey fearlessly tackles topics from death to infertility to fleeting friendships, all while maintaining a sense of innocence and exuberance for the children, and affinity and understanding for the parents, who are allowed to be dynamic, imperfect beings on their own growth journey.”

Created and written by Joe Brumm, the series follows Bluey, a lovable and inexhaustible blue heeler dog who lives with her Mum, Dad, and little sister, Bingo. Bluey uses her limitless energy to play games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family and the whole neighborhood into her world of fun.

Produced by the multiple Emmy Award-winning Ludo Studio for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BBC Studios Kids & Family, the series airs and streams to U.S. and global audiences (outside of Australia, New Zealand and China) across Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ through a global broadcasting deal between BBC Studios Kids & Family and Disney Branded Television.
