Today via Tudum, Netflix announced that the new anime series Sakamoto Days will be debuting in January 2025, streaming worldwide. Based on the hit manga written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since 2020, the series is produced and animated by TMS Entertainment (Lupin the 3rd, Dr. Stone, Baki).
A new teaser trailer and key visual were debuted with the announcement of the release window and voice cast.
The story of Sakamoto Days centers on the greatest hitman of all time: Taro Sakamoto. Feared by all villains, and revered by all hitmen — he one day fell in love with Aoi the convenience store clerk, and just like that, he retired. Sakamoto got married, had a daughter, opened a mom-and-pop store in a quiet town, and gained quite a few pounds of comfort weight. Despite his personal transformation, the legendary ex-hitman must face a relentless stream of assassin attacks to protect his peaceful family life.
The newly announced Japanese voice cast features Tomokazu Sugita as Taro Sakamoto, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura, Ayane Sakura as Lu Shaotang, Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto, Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto and Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo.
The anime adaptation is helmed by director Masaki Watanabe (Battle Spirits, KADO: The Right Answer, Bartender) with series composition by Taku Kishimoto (Fruits Basket, Ranking of Kings, Haikyu!!) and character design by Yo Moriyama (Lupin the 3rd: Goemon’s Blood Spray and Jigen’s Gravestone; director, Megalobox).

Sakamoto Days will premiere globally on Netflix with one episode released each week, starting in January 2025.
