Angel Studios Greenlights ‘Wingfeather Saga’ Season 3

The Wingfeather Saga

Crowdfunding production company Angel Studios announces that Season 3 of its animated series The Wingfeather Saga has received a full funding commitment and is moving into production. The Wingfeather Saga is billed as the #1 crowdfunded animated family series in history, with over $8.2 million raised by over 10,000 investors.

“The support from our fans has been so encouraging and inspiring,” said showrunner J. Chris Wall. “This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the steadfast support from fans who joined the Angel Guild to watch the series, pay it forward and purchase merchandise. Their enthusiasm is what fuels our commitment to delivering more of the adventures and wonder they have come to love. We’re so excited to dive into the next chapter of this journey.”

The Wingfeather Saga chronicles the adventures and transformations of the Igiby family as they discover secrets of their family history, flee the evil Fangs of Dang, seek their place in the world and make a stand against the mysterious ruler, Gnag the Nameless. They will need their special gifts and all the love of their noble mother and ex-pirate grandfather to survive.

Season 3, titled The Ice Prairies, continues the story from the book North! Or Be Eaten, where the family flees toward the Northern Ice Prairies to escape the Fangs of Dang.

The series voice cast includes Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings), Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid), Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean), Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey), Eva Whittaker (Wolfwalkers), Matthew Rhys (The Americans, Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Kellen Goff (Five Nights at Freddy’s) and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost, The 100).

Distributed by Angel Studios, The Wingfeather Saga is based on the best-selling novels by singer-songwriter and novelist Andrew Peterson, which have sold more than 1 million copies. To bring the story to life, the team at Shining Isle Productions developed a proprietary animation pipeline using Unreal Engine that merges traditional CGI with hand-painted 2D environments.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Wingfeather Saga are available to stream on Angel.com (S1 free, S2 for members only).
