‘The One Piece’ Anime Reboot Announces Key Creative Staff

As part of the livestream activities for One Piece Day ’24, the animation talents attached to the upcoming remake The One Piece were announced. Per the project announcement at Jump Festa in December, the series will adapt Eichiro Oda’s major best-selling manga starting from the “East Blue Saga.” The show marks the 25th anniversary of Oda’s epic, and is being produced by WIT Studio (SPY X FAMILY, Attack on Titan) to stream worldwide exclusively on Netflix in collaboration with publisher Shueisha, Fuji Television Network and Toei Animation.

The newly announced staff are:

  • Director: Masashi Koizuka (Attack on Titan, Moonrise)
  • Asst. director: Hideaki Abe (key animator on Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, Suicide Squad ISEKAI ep. 5)
  • Chief animation directors & character designers: Kyoji Asano (Attack on Titan, SPY X FAMILY) and Takatoshi Honda (The First Slam Dunk)
  • Image board & creature designer: Yasuhiro Kajino (designer/key animation on In/Spectre, RIN-NE Season 2)
  • Prop design supervisor: Eri Taguchi (animation director on Vampire in the Garden; character designer on Play It Cool, Guys)
  • Script supervisor: Taku Kishimoto (Haikyu!!, Ranking of Kings)
  • Action animators: Ken Imaizumi (animation dir. on Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) and Shuhei Fukuda (animation dir. on My Hero Academia: You’re Next)
  • Art director: Tomonori Kuroda (A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun)
  • Animation producer: Ryōma Kawamura (Moonrise)
