Andy Serkis Joins Cast of ‘A Lamb’s Stew’ Animated Special

La Cabane and Thuristar have announced the addition of Andy Serkis to the cast of their upcoming animated television special, A Lamb’s Stew (26 min., Blender 3D CG with 2D segments). The projects is directed by Joeri Christiaen and produced by Perrine Gauthier, who both have recently worked on the internationally popular series Mush-Mush & the Mushables and My Knight and Me.

Serkis, best known for his iconic roles as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Caesar in Planet of the Apes, as well as his performances in The Batman and Black Panther, will be voicing the Wolf. He joins previously announced voice stars T’Nia Miller (Sex Education, Years and Years) in the role of Miss Shearlington, and 11-year-old Iris Onyejiuwa in the role of Billie the young lamb. Miller and Onyejiuwa can be heard in the teaser trailer released for Cartoon Forum 2024.

“Andy Serkis’ work, particularly on Caesar in Planet of the Apes, was a source of inspiration for writing the character of the Wolf — although I didn’t dare imagine that he would one day play the role,” said Christiaen. “As for T’Nia Miller, the quality of her performance in the teaser led me to make Miss Shearlington a central character in the story. I’m equally honored to be working with Iris Onyejiuwa, who is playing her very first role in the film.”

Other cast members include Keith Wickham, Harriet Carmichael, Tibby Radcliffe, Hal Radcliffe and Mackenzie Bruce-Lockhart.

Synopsis: Billie is a young lamb determined to prove that sheep are just as brave as other animals. Billie sets out to lure a wolf into a trap, only to discover that he isn’t the monster she thought he was … Through her journey, the film questions how preconceived ideas shape our worldviews. It invites viewers to embrace individuality … and to not judge a sheep by its wool, nor a wolf by its fur.

Produced in open-source software Blender, A Lamb’s Stew is helmed by Christiaen as director and art director. Christiaen is also the film’s scriptwriter; he worked alongside Claire Paoletti (Shooom’s Odyssey) as story consultant during the project’s initial development phase, and Julia Smuts Louw (Star Wars: Visions – Aau’s Song and The Smeds and the Smoos) as script editor for the final script.

A Lamb’s Stew is the first original special developed by La Cabane and Thuristar. The companies have produced several Mush-Mush specials previously, including The Guardian of the Forest, which was nominated for an International Emmy Award in 2021.
