WB Drops 3D for Part 1 of Harry Potter Finale

Warner Bros. has canceled its plans to release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 in stereoscopic 3D because the process was unable to be completed in time.

The film, due out Nov. 19, is the first half of the studio’s adaptation of the final volume in the popular book series by J.K. Rowling.

“Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality,” the studio said in a release.

The second half of the film, due out July 15, is still slated to be released in both 2D and 3D formats.
