Book Supporting 2D Art Launches Funding Appeal

Animation industry vets Tony White and J. Schuh have only logged a year into their 2DLIB.com campaign, which seeks to link traditional animators around the world in an effort to preserve and grow the medium in the face of what many hand-drawing artists see as an onslaught of digital production preference. Yet, they have managed to attract a slew of contributions to their book project, Drawn Together – It’s Time to Draw the Line.

Artists and animators from across the globe donated concept art, character designs and illustrations to the project, and now 2DLIB is seeking donations to get the book published, with the goal of landing a copy on every animation exec’s desk to show them what they’re missing by bypassing the traditional technique.

With a goal of 100 donations, the project wound up with 222 pieces in myriad styles and media, many from renowned artists like Pascal Campion, Paul Chung, Don Crum, Gene Deitch, Paul & Sandra Fierlinger, Michel Gagne, Cedric Hohnstadt, Dattaraj Kamat, Thomas Liera, Dima Malanitchev, Silvia Pompei, Joanna Quinn, Tom Sito, Wouter Tulp and Dean Yeagle.

The effort is running through a Verkami campaign with the hopes of meeting its 9,000 EU (about $12,000 USD) goal in just under 40 days.
