HIT Greenlights Second Season of New ‘Bob the Builder’

HIT Entertainment, a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc., has greenlit a second season plus a 60-minute special for its new CG-animated Bob the Builder series. The 52 x 11 season 2 package is set for delivery in 2016, with the special slated for 2017.

Bob the Builder will also be embarking on exciting construction-related adventures in the digital sphere, with the launch of a new short-form video series of 43 x 2. The shorts will build out the world of Bob and his pals while continuing the show’s long tradition of entertaining preschoolers in a unique, dynamic way. The videos will arrive on YouTube this August.

Season 2, the special and online shorts will be produced at HIT’s UK headquarters, with animation services provided by Canada’s Mainframe. The voice cast includes Lee Ingleby, Joanne Froggatt and Blake Harrison. Season 1 of the new series will debut later this year on Channel 5’s Milkshake! (U.K.), PBS Kids (U.S.) and in early 2016 on Super RTL (Germany) and Televisa (Mexico).
