The 2015 AniFilm fest has wrapped up in Trebon, Czech Republic this weekend. The top feature awards went to Spanish director Sam Conflictivos for the adult-targeted puppet horror comedy Possessed, and Studio Ghibli’s living legend Isao Takahata triumphed in the kids’ feature category with The Tale of Princess Kaguya.
Feature length films garnering special mentions were Signe Baumane’s Rocks in My Pockets and Tomm Moore for Cartoon Saloon’s Song of the Sea.
The international shorts competition went to U.S. indie darling Don Hertzfeldt for World of Tomorrow, with a special mention given to Czech director Vojtech Kiss for Mr. Spider’s Anatomy. Newly introduced, the international non-narrative, experimental and boundary forms category prize was awarded to Polish director Jerzy Kucia’s Fugue for Cello, Trumpet and Landscape.
The 2015 AniFilm (anifilm.cz/en) event attracted more than 25,000 attendees this year, including over 800 industry professionals. The competition screenings comprised 100 films, with nearly 400 other films screened during the six days of programming, which also included more than 30 workshops, lectures and presentations.
