Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker and other comic-book staples will soon go up against such video-game favorites as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang and Sonya. Midway Games Inc. announced that the eagerly awaited Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe game will be on store shelves throughout North America on Nov. 16., and in Europe on Nov. 21, 2008.
Last week, Midway released the final box art along with details of the North American ‘Kollector’s Edition,’ which will come in special packaging and will feature bonus video content and an exclusive, removable art print designed by Alex Ross, one of the world’s most respected comic-book artists. In addition, John Tobias, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise, has sketched a 16-page DC comic book that chronicles the universe-shattering events that lead up to the in-game story mode and brought these two properties together.
Gamers will be able to choose sides and challenge opponents with a new fighting system offering Freefall Kombat and Klose Kombat moves in dynamic, multi-tiered environments. There will also be a single-player mode with an intertwined storyline and two unique perspectives. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. For more information go to www.worldscollide.com.
