USPS Offers ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’ Stamps

In celebration of both the 65th anniversary of Charles Schulz’ classic Peanuts strip (Oct. 2) and to launch October as National Stamp Collecting Month, the U.S. Postal Service will be dedicating a line of Forever stamps inspired by the animated TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas — which also has a big anniversary, its 50th, this December. The dedication will take place Oct. 1 at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA, with the stamps available nationwide the same day.

The stamp images include:Charlie Brown holding his holiday sapling; Charlie Brown and Pigpen with a snowman; Snoopy and children ice skating; the whole crew around the Christmas tree; Linus with the tree; Charlie Brown checking his mailbox; Charlie Brown and Linus against a snowy wall; Charlie Brown and Linus by the tree; a frustrated Charlie Brown in front of Snoopy’s doghouse; and Charlie Brown decorating the tree in front of Snoopy’s lit-up doghouse. All were designed by Alexandria, VA-based art director Antonio Alcala.

At the dedication ceremony, Postmaster General Megan Brennan will be joined by Schulz’s widow Jean, his son Craig, A Charlie Brown Christmas exec producer Lee Mendelson, USPS Board of Governors Acting Chairman James Bilbray, Charles M. Schulz Museum Director Karen Johnson, and Snoopy.
