Blue Zoo Counts on Two New Seasons of ‘Numberblocks’

CBeebies has commissioned Blue Zoo Animation Studio to produce two new seasons of Numberblocks, to debut next year. The brainchild of Joe Elliot and Blue Zoo, Numberblocks follows the adventures of ten, unique, counting block characters who like to play games, sing songs, make patterns and go on adventures in Numberland. Numberblocks engages children with songs and silliness, while helping them understand numbers by visually making sense of how they work.

Blue Zoo work closely with the National Council for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM) to ensure Numberblocks delivers the essential numeracy skills that build good number sense and a solid math foundation. The first season of Numberblocks has been nominated for a BAFTA in the Children’s Learning category.

“It has been wonderful to see how well the first series of Numberblocks has been received by the CBeebies audience,” notes Kay Benbow, head of CBeebies. “Many parents have emailed in to tell us about the love of numbers and math that the brand has ignited in their little ones, and I’m delighted to be able to announce that I have commissioned two more series of this very successful title. I know our audience will look forward to meeting some brand new characters and going on many more adventures in Numberland.”

“We’re thrilled by the amazing response to Numberblocks from children and their parents,” says Joe Elliot, the award-winning creator of the show. “We’ve got many more stories to tell, so it’s just great to have sixty more episodes to show what the Numberblocks do next. We started with one little block, and I think our audience will be very excited by where we’re headed and how much they’ll discover along the way.”

Series two and three of Numberblocks will air on CBeebies in 2018. End season will consist of 30 five-minute episodes.
