Netflix Greenlights ‘Paradise P.D.’ from ‘Brickleberry’ Creators

Netflix is adding to its adult animation lineup, greenlighting a new 10-episode series, Paradise P.D., from Brickleberry creators Waco O’Guin and Roger Black. The 2D animated cop comedy will feature Sarah Chalke (Rick and Morty) leading the voice cast, and will be produced by Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment and Bento Box Animation (Brickleberry, Bob’s Burgers).

The show will be about the goings-on of an incompetent smalltown police department. The official pitch goes: “They’re bad cops. Not bad like no-nonsense. Not bad like cool. Bad like sh***y. Paradise PD: They’re the worst responders.”

The voice cast also features Dana Snyder (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), Cedric Yarbrough (Speechless), Dave Herman (Bob’s Burgers), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Kyle Kinane (The Standups).

It will be interesting to see how the “worst responders” concept is received amid the ongoing debate about police brutality in the US — the police shooting death of Stephon Clark on March 18 has resulted in mass protests in Sacramento in the most recent high-profile case.
