2018 Women in Animation Scholarship Program Open for Submissions
This year, WIA has expanded the program introduced by founding member Phyllis Craig — now the annual award will go from one scholarship to five deserving student members receiving the $1,000 grant to continue on the path to their promising animated futures!
Applications Open for European Animation Awards Board
European animation industry participants are invited to register as EAA members in order to submit their candidacies for 15 Board Member positions (deadline: May 15), and vote. The new board will convene in Annecy on June 11 to present the 2018 Emile Awards at a special MIFA event.
CROWDFUND: ‘Dragon’s Delusion’ Animated Sci-Fi
This Hong Kong-based project is written and directed by artist Kongkee (books Pandaman, Travel to Hong Kong with Blur), with animation directors Lee Kwok-wai and Tsui Ka-hei — the trio behind the award-winning short Departure. The campaign has already far surpassed its funding goal, so people are clearly responding to pressing themes of human interaction with machines and networks, as well as the highly stylized 2D design. We’ll definitely be keeping a cybernetically enhanced eye on this one.
