Pixelatl Fest Unveils Trailer by Vanilla Studios

Mexico’s celebration of all things animation, video games and comics, El Festival Pixelatl — taking place in Cuernavaca from Sept. 4-8 — has revealed its first official trailer and poster for the 2018 edition. As has become tradition, the organizers selected a local Mexican studio to create the visual identity for the festival. This year, the honor went to Vanilla Studio.

Also based in Cuernavaca, Vanilla Studio is an ambitious 3D animation and interactive studio focused on creating rich story experiences to meet the needs of a wide range of consumers, from curious toddlers to busy adults. One of Vanilla’s key projects is its original animated series, working titled Color Monsters, which is expected to debut next year. The studio mixes things up by developing original IP as well as creating AR/VR, mobile gaming, and animation projects for clients like Mondelez, McDonald’s, Subway, The Mexican Teachers Union, and others.

This year’s festival theme is “Concordia” — a Latin word with no direct English translation, meaning “together with one heart.” Pixelatl’s organizers always try to choose a theme which reflects what is going on in the world and within society. As festival director Jose Iñesta put it:

“With current world events, we felt that we are forgetting that we need each other in order to continue to exist… Animation is a discipline that teaches us that we need teamwork to overcome our differences and what better way to reflect upon this than with our festival.”
