Nonprofit Studio Drawn from Valor Launches Family PTSD Campaign

Drawn from Valor, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animation studio, has launched a six-week online art and crowdfunding campaign to draw attention to and share hopeful messages with kids and families impacted by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma. The campaign, Oinya’s Prize: Drawing Together for Hope is connected to the nonprofit’s upcoming longer series, The Tales of the Golden Acorn; both follow a family of squirrels as they navigate life with PTSD/trauma, learn about different paths of healing, and consistently share a powerful message of hope.

“Oinya’s Prize: Drawing Together for Hope, Oinya’s Prize itself, and subsequently, The Tales of the Golden Acorn, are really about one thing,” Susie Dicker Co-Executive Director of Drawn from Valor said, “reminding those affected by PTSD and trauma they have resources, they are not alone, and no matter what, there is always room for hope. The National Center for PTSD says that approximately 60% of men and 50% of women will experience a trauma in their lifetimes and approximately 7-8% of the population will have PTSD. Starting this campaign on National PTSD Awareness Day and asking people to Draw-Along with us, whether they use our prompts, our free coloring book page, donate money, or simply re-post on social media, are just a few of the many ways we hope to share our message of hope.”

Over the course of the online campaign, artists like Jason Chatfield, Ed Steckley, and Keith Munslow will create art live during events on Drawn from Valor’s Facebook page. Drawn from Valor will also share hope-based art prompts several times a week for followers on social media to make their own art or use a free downloadable coloring book page from https://bit.ly/Draw4Hope. Participants may upload their art to social media with the hashtags #DrawAlong and #Draw4Hope.
