Alioscopy Unveils Autostereoscopic Display at WAEA

The glasses are coming off as Alioscopy USA, a maker of 3D display technologies, gets set to demonstrate its 3DHD-40 autostereoscopic 3D LCD display at the 29th Annual World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) Conference and Expo. Serving the in-flight entertainment industry, the event takes place Sept. 8’11 at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Los Angeles.

With animated movies and other forms of entertainment marching stridently into the 3-D realm, studios are faced with the challenge of recreating the in-theater stereoscopic experience on home video and other ancillary arenas such as airplanes. Technologies such as the 3DHD-40 display will allow audiences to enjoy 3-D content without the need of special glasses.

The 3DHD-40 features a highly specialized lenticular lens, which Alioscopy claims delivers unmatched quality, clarity and depth. The system also supports real-time capabilities that enable viewers to interact with content for a truly immersive experience. Artists can create 3D content with leading software applications such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, Softimage XSI, MAXON CINEMA 4D and NewTek Lightwave 3D, and render it out for display on the 3DHD-40.

Alioscopy’s technology debuted earlier this year at InfoComm 2008, where it was honored with Insight Media’s ‘Best Buzz’ award, an honor reserved for new products that generated the most excitement among analysts, members of the press and conference attendees. Alioscopy also participated at the recent Nvision ’08 and SIGGRAPH shows. The company will be showing off the 3DHD-40 display in the Thales booth (#655) at the Long Beach Convention Center during WAEA.
