A great civilization once existed on this Earth. Possessing knowledge and scientific prowess far exceeding that of modern man, the relics of this ancient civilization remain hidden across this world even now. As high-speed communications networks cover the globe and the peering eyes of satellites are able to expose all secrets, the armies of great nations clash as they seek to uncover and research these artifacts, which possess an unfathomable “power.” A member of this ancient civilization carved a message into a plate: “Protect our legacy from evildoers.” Taking this message to heart, one organization aims to seal away this ancient civilization for good. The elite secret agents of this organization are known as… Spriggans.

The voice cast features Chiaki Kobayashi as Yu Ominae, Youhei Azakami as Jean Jacquemonde, Kenji Hamada as Director Yamamoto and Mariya Ise as Yoshino Somei.

The Netflix Original Anime screenplay and series composition was headed by Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Banana Fish). Shuhei Handa (Little Witch Academia) is character designer and supervising animation director. Newly announced members of the creative team include JNTHED, who will lead production design, CG director Norihito Ishii, head of color design Osamu Mikasa, art director Yuji Kaneko and director of photography Yosuke Motoki.

The hit Spriggan manga was published in Weekly Shonen Sunday by Shogakukan from 1989 to 1996, selling over 10 million copies in total and spawning an anime film in 1998.
