Watch: Meet Animation Magazine’s Rising Stars of Animation 2022!

Following their debut in the April issue of Animation Magazine (available now), we are proud to present this year’s video panel featuring the Rising Stars of Animation 2022. Watch the video below to hear how these brilliant talents tackled some of the year’s most exciting projects!

The importance of teamwork and being true to your own vision are key building blocks for many of this year’s Rising Stars: Matthew Bordenave (director of “Nubian vs. Nubian” for The Boys Presents: Diabolical and shoe enthusiast) recalls calling in a squad of talented friends, Rona Liu (production designer, Turning Red) expounds on the close and collaborative Pixar culture and Patrick O’Keefe (production designer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1) asserts that aspiring animators should “pay attention to what you pay attention to” to find their unique voice.

The class of 2022 also gives some insight on the challenges and triumphs of their career paths. Latoya Raveneau (Rise Up, Sing Out; The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder) revels in “the challenge of trying to get this rocket into space” since becoming a director, while Dale Malinowski (co-EP, Transformers: EarthSpark) shares his excitement about telling stories with characters he has loved his whole life.

In the video, you will also be introduced to Marty Broski (The Cuphead Show!), Ingrid Clemeno (Sonic Prime), Vanessa Esteves (Super Wish), Woonyoung Jung (The Sea Beast), Ruolin Li (Abominable and the Invisible City), Floriane Marchix (The Bad Guys), Ernie Rinard (Luck), Karissa Valencia (Spirit Rangers) and Wip Vernooij (Two Little Toddlers).
