Disney+ Revs Up ‘Cars on the Road’ with Clip, Credits, Images & Soundtrack Reveal

In honor of “Lightning McQueen Day” (9/5 for No. 95), Disney+ offered fans a closer look under the hood of Disney and Pixar’s original series Cars on the Road, premiering this week.

The reveals include the newly released Cars on the Road soundtrack; a three-minute clip from Ep. 3, “Salt Fever”; the series’ opening credits sequence and theme song; and fresh images.

The Disney+ Original series follows Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and his best friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) as they head east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater’s sister.

Premiering on Disney+ Day, Sepember 8, Cars on the Road is produced by Marc Sondheimer. The series’ episodes are directed by Steve Purcell (Eps. 1, 2, 8), Bobby Podesta (Eps. 5, 6, 9) and Brian Fee (Eps. 3, 4, 7).

Composer Jake Monaco created the score for all nine episodes, featured on the just-released soundtrack from Walt Disney Records. Recorded with the musical talents of 79 musicians and 17 singers, the Cars on the Raod soundtrack includes the full version of the theme song and tunes like “Trucks” and “Brain on Wheels.” Listen here.

Disney+ Day will return on Thursday, Sept. 8, leading into D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa in Anaheim, Calif. In celebration, the streaming service will host special experiences for fans and subscribers, and will premiere new content from its marquee brands — Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.
