Deal Roundup: ‘Koala Bros.,’ ‘Leonardo,’ ‘Rekkit Rabbit’

Here’s the latest sales and pickup deals from around the globe:

Spellbound Entertainment secured an ongoing commitment from CBeebies for the popular preschool series, The Koala Brothers.

Under the deal, the BBC will re-license The Koala Brothers series 1-3 as well as a 46 minute Christmas special, The Koala Brothers Outback Christmas. The partnership ensures The Koala Brothers presence across CBeebies, BBC iPlayer, the CBeebies website and CBeebies Radio through 2018. The series currently airs daily on CBeebies.

Israeli broadcaster Noga renewed rights to the Gruppo Alcunu hit series Leonardo, which is in preproduction on its second series.

Leonardo (26 x 13 mins.) is the story of a group of Tuscan youngsters from the 1400s who are lucky enough to have as a friend the young Leonardo da Vinci.

Zodiak Kids has concluded a number of deals for the children’s comedy Rekkit Rabbit.

Produced by Marathon Media, Rekkit Rabbit (52 x 13 mins.) has been sold to Nickelodeon Germany, TV3 Spain, ETB Spain and Switchover Media’s leading Italian kids’ Channel K2, which will premiere the show in June 2012. Created by Vincent Chalvon Demersay and David Michel of Marathon Media and helmed by Reid Harrisson (The Simpsons) and Mitch Watson (Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated), Rekkit Rabbit is a mass appeal cartoon comedy with a very wacky edge. Zodiak Kids holds global rights in all media for the property.
