‘Helluva Boss’ Wins 2023 Streamy Award for Animation

The 13th Streamy Awards were bestowed Sunday in an energetic ceremony hosted by YouTube star MatPat. Packed with special guests from across the creator community, the event doled out 50 awards recognizing excellence in a variety of content verticals and areas of expertise.

Taking this year’s prize in the Animated category was the adult-targeted YouTube series Helluva Boss, created by Vivziepop (Hazbin Hotel), a.k.a. Vivienne Medrano. Launched in October 2020 and now in its second season, the colorful and off-kilter 2D comedy follows the employees of I.M.P (Immediate Murder Professionals), an imp-run assassination company in Hell: Blitzø, the boss of the venture; weapons specialist Moxxie; powerhouse Millie; and receptionist/hellhound Loona. With the help of an ancient book obtained from Stolas, a Goetial demon of Hell, they access the human world to complete their demon-appointed tasks.

The show is produced by Medrano’s Burbank-based animation studio SpindleHorse Toons, and features the voices of Brandon Rogers (Blame the Hero), Richard Horvitz (Invader Zim), Vivian Nixon (Grey’s Anatomy), Erica Lindbeck (ThunderCats Roar) and Tony Award nominated actor-singer Bryce Pinkham (Broadway’s A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder).
