Dark Prophecy and Revolution Collide in New ‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ Trailer

Soon, there will be only darkness
and terror will be all they know.

 

Netflix today let the main trailer and key art for Castlevania: Nocturne out of the shadows, giving fans a dangerously close look at the vampire-haunted world of revolution, magic and violence that awaits in the next installment of the Castlevania universe. The series premieres Thursday, September 28, but will get an early digital screening as part of the streamer’s DROP 01 virtual event, showcasing Netflix’s hottest animated genre series.

On September 27, Netflix invites fans worldwide to tune into our first ever DROP 01 virtual showcase. Anchored by the global livestream of Castlevania: Nocturne (the day before the series will officially debut on Netflix), the event will feature surprise announcements and never-before-seen, sneak peek “drops” from the animated series fans are most excited about. (Series lineup to be announced.)

The global livestream event will be broadcast on Wednesday, September 27 at 9 a.m. PST / 12 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. BST via Netflix Twitch. Castlevania: Nocturne Synopsis: France, 1792 — the height of the French Revolution. In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to “eat the sun” and unleash an army of vampires and nightcreatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.

From showrunners Kevin Kolde (Castlevania) and Clive Bradley (Trapped), the 8 x 25′ series is produced by Project 51 Productions and animated by Powerhouse Animation for Netflix. Bradley also serves as creator/writer. Sam Deats and Adam Deats share directing duties. Zodwa Nyoni, Temi Oh and Testament also wrote episodes for Nocturne.
