Angelique Cabral Crowned the Voice of Queen Amaya in Disney’s ‘Wish’

The royal family of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ centenary feature film Wish has grown with the news that Big Sky and Life in Pieces actress Angelique Cabral has joined the cast in the role of Queen Amaya. Cabral will be animated consort to Chris Pine’s King Magnifico, the ruler of a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true.

The CG-animated musical adventure begins when Asha (Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose; Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story), a sharp-witted idealist, learns a hard truth and makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force — a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe — the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Chris Pine; Star Trek films) — to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Directed by Chris Buck (Frozen films) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (head of story, Raya and the Last Dragon), Wish features seven all-new original songs by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice. Peter Del Vecho (Frozen franchise) is producer and Juan Pablo Reyes (Encanto) is co-producer; Allison Moore (Night SkyManhunt) is  a co-writer.
