Animated Politics Non-Profit Now What!? Presents Night of Comedy with Andy Richter, Dulce Sloan & More

Civic literacy is getting an animated boost from a new nonprofit formed in Los Angeles: Now What!?

Founded by Brendan Burch, CEO of studio Six Point Harness (The Great Wolf PackTig Notaro: Drawn, Hair Love), the organization is dedicated to supporting media, particularly animated comedy, which help demystify policy and politics for young voters. They are currently developing and funding shorts focused on top Gen Z issues such as reproductive rights, climate change, gun control and economic justice, with partner studios including Six Point Harness, Titmouse, Oddbot, Aardman Nathan Love and Powerhouse.

With the 2024 election looming, Now What!? aims to produce 20 animated shorts informing and elucidating the latest generation of voters. To help reach this goal, a community fundraiser will be held Friday, May 17 at Emmy-winning studio Titmouse (Big Mouth, Niko and the Sword of Light) — a night of comedy, complimentary drinks from Maui Brewing and Modern Times, and tacos!

“A lot of people in the animation industry could use a party and a creative outlet like this right now.  The nonprofit we’re building is fresh and exciting. We currently have 4 shorts funded and our goal is to raise enough to finish 20 before the 2024 election.”

The evening will be hosed by comedian James Adomian (Comedy Bang! Bang!, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson), with uproarious live sets performed by Andy Richter (Conan, DreamWorks’ Madagascar films), Dulce Sloan (The Daily Show, The Great North), Alana Johnston (That’s So Weird!, Right Now Kapow), Hampton Yount (Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Eric André Show) and a bevvy of can’t-miss surprise guests.

The Now What!? fundraiser party will be held Friday,  May 17 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Titmouse studio in Los Angeles (1121 Seward Street). The suggested donation is $100 to help support Now What!?’s mission, but tickets are pay what you can.  Donate and purchase tickets here.
