Children’s television veteran David Wiebe has joined the Netflix all-ages animation team as Manager of Kids & Family Animated Series. He joins recently appointed executives Matthew Berkowitz, Director of Animation – Preschool & Kids, and Hannah Minghella, Head of Feature Animation & Live-Action Family Films.
Wiebe began his career two decades ago as a creative executive at Nickelodeon, where he worked on shows including lasting hits SpongeBob SquarePants and The Fairly OddParents. He served as Director of Development at Corus Ent.’s Nelvana in 2002-2003 before joining Warner Bros. Television Network for 2003-2007. More recently, he was Senior Director of Entertainment at Mattel, where he created Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse, and was SVP of Current Series & Franchise for DreamWorks Animation.
Since 2022, Wiebe has under his banner Big House Stories helped develop, pitch and produce family projects for companies including Netflix, as well as 9 Story, Guru Studio, Mattel, Spin Master, Superprod, Universal and Wind Sun Sky.
