New Trailer: ‘Flow’ Sails to NorAm Release & Awards Season

Sideshow and Janus Films, who are handling the North American release of Flow, have premiered a new trailer for the animated festival darling. The second feature from Gints Zilbalodis (Away), Flow is floating into New York and Los Angeles theaters on November 22, followed by a nationwide release on December 6.

Flow has been selected as Latvia’s official entry for the Best International Film Academy Award, and heads to U.S. theaters buoyed by warm critical receptions at Festival de Cannes, Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. The Hollywood Reporter called the dialog-free film, “A joy to experience but also a deeply affecting story, the work of a unique talent who deserves to be ranked among the world’s great animation artists.”

Synopsis: A wondrous journey, through realms natural and mystical, Flow follows a courageous cat after his home is devastated by a great flood. Teaming up with a capybara, a lemur, a bird, and a dog to navigate a boat in search of dry land, they must rely on trust, courage and wits to survive the perils of a newly aquatic planet.

From the boundless imagination of the award-winning Gints Zilbalodis (Away) comes a thrilling animated spectacle as well as a profound meditation on the fragility of the environment and the spirit of friendship and community. Steeped in the soaring possibilities of visual storytelling, Flow is a feast for the senses and a treasure for the heart.

Zilbalodis penned the pic with Matiss Kaza, wrote the original score with Rihards Zalupe and served as producer alongside Kaza, Ron Dyens and Gregory Zalcman. Flow is produced by Zilbalodis’ Dream Well Studio (Latvia), Sacrebleu Productions (France) and Take Five (Belgium).
