Stuttgart Animation Fest Announces 2012 Program

The six-day Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film has unveiled its programming for this year. The event, which takes place May 8-13, in conjunction with the FMX confab offers an exciting, diverse collection of shorts and features from all over the world.

The feature film category includes:
 

  • Eric Bergeron’s Un Monstre a Paris (A Monster in Paris) France
  • Jean-Francois Laguionie’s Le Tableau (The Painting) France
  • Andres Schaer’s Copito de Nieve (Snowflake the White Gorilla) Spain
  • Sun Li Jun’s Tu Xia Chuan Qi (Legend of a Rabbit) China
  • Duncan MacNeillie’s Jock of the Bushveld. South Africa
  • Ignacio Ferreras’ Arrugas (Wrinkles) Spain
  • Hiroyuki Okiura’s Momo e no Tegami (A Letter to Momo) Japan
  • Jairo Carrilo’s Pequenas Voces (Little Voices) Colombia

The 19th Edition of the festival includes 200 projects that were submitted to the various competition categories (International Competition, Young Animation, Tricks for Kids, Cartoons for Teens, AniMovie and the Animated Com Award). Also on tap are special presentations by the team at LAIKA (which will show excerpts from its upcoming movie ParaNorman) and vfx house Studio Pixomondo (Hugo). Tributes to Hungarian animation, silhouette animation, British shorts, animated Africa, Jewish animated films and in-person showcases of the works of Agnes Hay, Michel Ocelot, Raoul Servais, Georges Schwizgebel, Tine Kluth, Dustin Grella and Anneliese Klemm are a few of the other treats in store for international animation lovers.
