Zodiak Kids and Netflix Sign Deal for ‘Little Princess’

Netflix subscribers in the Nordic markets will be able to watch Zodiak Kids’ animated preschool show Little Princess on-demand. Following Netflix’s announcement of its launch in the Nordic territory, the streaming service has acquired the SVOD rights to the first 30 x 11’ series of the toon.

In other sales the Little Princess latest series, series 3 (35 x 11’), has been picked up by ZDF in Germany and renewed with SVT Sweden for series 1 and 2 (35 x 11’) as well as two specials.

Karen Vermeulen, Zodiak Kids’ senior VP of global sales and co-pros noted, “We are delighted to be partnering with Netflix as part of our SVOD strategy for Zodiak Kids as we begin to make our content available through these networks. We already enjoy a strong relationship with Netflix through our sister company Zodiak Rights success with Being Human on Netflix U.K. and the U.S.”

The Little Princess television series is based on the best-selling children’s picture books by award-winning author/illustrator Tony Ross. Three seasons (100 x 11’) and two specials (2×22’) of Little Princess have been made at London’s The Illuminated Film Company studio. Zodiak Kids has previously concluded international deals for the new third series with ABC TV Australia; Discovery Kids Latin America; ATV Hong Kong; DR1 Denmark, Thai PBS, Czech TV, TVO Canada and RUV Iceland. Zodiak Kids holds all international broadcast rights (excluding Japan and Korea) and all licensing and merchandising rights (excluding publishing) to Little Princess.
