ICO Global Communications Ltd (ICO) has reached agreements with Turner Broadcasting System Inc. to provide content from the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim for use in alpha trials of ICO’s mobile interactive media service known as ICO mim. The fully interactive mobile video, navigation and emergency assistance service powered by the ICO G1 satellite launched in April and trials will commence late this summer in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The ICO mim service will include a broad mix of news, entertainment, children’s programs and sports offerings. In addition to the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim content, the ICO trial will feature properties from NBC Universal and Discovery Networks, among others. Sue Hamilton, ICO’s lead strategic content negotiator, says kids’ programming is an essential genre for the rear-seat mobile entertainment service.
ICO mim will provide eight to fifteen channels of high-quality live mobile television to portable, larger-screen devices. The service is powered by the largest commercial satellite launched to date, ICO G1, which is specifically designed to provide a next generation of innovative interactive services to mobile and portable devices. For more information, go to www.ico.com.
