The London headquarters of Mainframe, an independent studio specializing in motion graphics, animation, vfx and titles for commercials, is investing more than $2.2 million in a larger studio. Part of a continuing expansion project that recently saw Mainframe North open in Manchester, the new London facility will be located on the top floor of an old Clerkenwell warehouse, situated next to the Guardian’s offices. The move will take place mid-September.
Mainframe’s new space will be furnished with roughly $372,000 worth of new gear, including an additional five Maya seats and new work stations built around Mac and Boxx technologies. The company has also recruited four new animators.
Mainframe founder and managing director Adam Jenns comments, ‘We feel very fortunate to be expanding like this in such an uncertain economic climate. It would feel like a bit too much of a risk if it weren’t for the steady flow of repeat and new business that’s coming our way.’
Mainframe’s in-house team of producers, designers and 2D and 3D animators work across the spectrum, from character design through to hi-end compositing.
