TELETOON has inked a deal to become the home of Marvel Animation in Canada. The multi-year partnership will kick off in the spring of 2009, offering a minimum of 182 first-run episodes for broadcast in both English and French. TELETOON will also have rights for additional platforms including broadband, video-on-demand and mobile.
Iron Man: Armored Adventures, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Wolverine and the X-Men will air on TELETOON during the Sunday morning action block and will be stripped in the weekday after-school schedule. Fans will also be able to catch late-night Marvel stunts and specials in the TELETOON Detour block.
‘Superheroes have always been key demo winners on TELETOON,’ says Len Cochrane, president of TELETOON Canada Inc. ‘This partnership with Marvel is central to building our dominance with boys 2-11 and attracting more young adults who have grown up with the Marvel Universe.’
‘This commitment by TELETOON and Marvel will allow all of our partners in licensing and at retail to lock in long-range planning strategies further strengthening the Marvel brand as we continue building awareness across all media platforms,’ adds Eric Rollman, president of Marvel Animation.
TELETOON and TELETOON Retro already air such Marvel shows as the classic Spider-Man and the new The Spectacular Spider-Man, as well as films including The Ultimate Avengers, The Invincible Iron Man, Captain America and X-Men.
