KidsCo, the joint venture channel owned by NBC Universal, Cookie Jar Group and Corus Ent., has signed an agreement with Korean content provider Iconix Ent. for a raft of new children’s programming. Popular animated kids’ shows including Nalong, Fly to the Sky and Spheres will launch on KidsCo’s Asia Pacific/Sub-Saharan African feed in early 2009.
KidsCo’s animated and live-action television series and feature-length movies are culled from the libraries of Cookie Jar, Corus’ Nelvana, Sesame Workshop and the BBC. Programming includes such children’s favorites as Inspector Gadget, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Wallace & Gromit, S Club 7, Strawberry Shortcake, New Adventures of Madeline, Babar, Dennis the Menace, Franklin and Rolie Polie Olie.
Launched just over a year ago, KidsCo is now available in more than 40 territories including Spain, Romania, the Ukraine, the Middle East, Hungary, Russia, Turkey, Poland, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Cambodia and countries across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Iconix develops and co-produces animation, and has won a number of international awards for its globally distributed toon Pororo the Little Penguin.
