The Tim Allen vehicle easily edged out other newcomers, including Sonys I Spy. The buddy flick starring Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson debuted at No. 3., behind DreamWorks The Ring, which opened in 174 more theaters to hold the No. 2 spot and bring in another $18.5 million in its third week.
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones: The IMAX Experience opened in 58 large format venues, taking in a staggering $25,000 per theater for a weekend total of $1.45 Million.
Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie has begun exiting theaters with a $21.6 million cume. The CG family film from Big Idea and Artisan dropped out of the top ten after earning $1.5 million over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the critically acclaimed Spirited Away, continues to plod in limited release. The Japanese blockbuster given the art house treatment by Disney added $313,000 to its North American cume of $4.4 million.
