Captain Sturdy, Renegade Animations series about a 62-year-old superhero is up, up and away for a return engagement on Cartoon Network.
The series pilot aired last year as part of The Big Pick Show, which invited viewers to vote for their favorite among 10 featured cartoon pilots. Captain Sturdy ranked highly and was also nominated for an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Writing in an Animated Television Production.
Created by Writer Bill Waldner, Renegade Animation Director Darrell Van Citters and the companys executive producer, Ashley Postlewaite, Captain Sturdy follows the adventures of a senior citizen crime fighter who reenters the workforce when the Federated Union of Superheroes stops sending his pension checks.
A second pilot is now in production for an evening airing on Cartoon Network this winter. The series may then be picked up for a full run.
