Having acquired the international television rights to the Garfield & Friends animated series, Tremendous! Ent. has announced plans to produce and distribute a 25th anniversary TV special.
Production on the special is slated to begin in Jan. 2003 for broadcast in June 2003. Classic clips will be combined with behind-the-scenes footage shot at Jim Davis’ studio at Paws Inc. and new animation. Whether the new animation will be done at Paws or outsourced has not been decided as of yet.
Under an agreement with Paws and Garfield television property co-owner Lee Mendelson Films Prods., Tremendous! will re-launch 121 half-hour episodes and 12 primetime specials for the Garfield library. In addition, Tremendous! has acquired development rights and has plans to produce a new series. An announcement is expected sometime next year.
