If youre putting together a budget for your independent animation project, one thing you may not have considered is the high cost of studio time for voiceover talent. To meet the demand for low cost alternatives, Circa Music has recently branched out from its Midwest location and opened audio facilities in New York and Los Angeles for the specific purpose of recording voiceover talent via ISDN.
Located on the upper west side of Manhattan and in the studio district of Burbank, the studios offer producers anywhere access to some of the best voice talent in the country without having to rent a full studio.
All three Circa locations are equipped with the new APT Milano transponder, which allows realtime ISDN recording to be done in 24-bit digital audio. This is an improvement over all previous options, which were limited to 16-bit audio. Its flagship studio in Dubin, Ohio is one of few studios worldwide that was built from the ground up to accommodate 5.1 surroundsound mixing and is being used by Disney as an ISDN link for several upcoming features.
If its music you need, Circa Owner and Producer Allen DiCenzo writes more than 200 musical compositions a year. The companys body of work includes many animation projects. Circa has provided audio support and original temp music for the feature films Space Jam and The Little Mermaid II, as well as numerous high-profile commercial spots.
ISDN rates for the new studios are $200 per hour at 16-bit, and $225 at 24-bit (non-originating.) To connect New York and L.A., the rate is $500 per hour at 16-bit and $525 at 24-bit, including line charges.
