From the nation that brought us the Spice Girls comes a whole different kind of girl band. The Vbirds, Cartoon Network U.K.’s first ever in-house produced series, has a hip musical quartet exiled to Earth from the Planet V. Bling, D:Lin, Wow and Boom take up residence in an amusement arcade dance machine where they rehearse their songs and entertain teen patrons.
Cartoon Network U.K. has produced all the design and animation for the series in-house. The producers also have plans to use the Kaydara FilmBox, as well as traditional and Flash animation, to allow the girls to make live, realtime appearances on talk shows and music programs.
The VBirds takes the form of a musical miniseries made up of five shows. Future series will include karaoke and interactive TV elements to be announced in the coming year.
Cartoon Network U.K. will make a preview available on Dec. 9 and 15, followed by the premiere on Dec. 28.
