The Web Marketing Association (WMA) has honored Disney Online with four WebAwards. Winners were announced on Oct. 1 during the sixth annual competition held at Internet World in New York City.
Part of the Walt Disney Internet Group and creator of the No. 1 kids’ entertainment and family community online destination (www.disney.com), Disney Online entered in four categories and took home awards in each of them.
• Outstanding Entertainment Web Site — Awarded to Disney.com (www.disney.com) for overall outstanding achievement as an online entertainment platform with original content and advanced technical features found within its “virtual theme park.”
• Outstanding Game Web Site — Awarded to Disney’s Blast (www.disneyblast.com). The subscription-based, advertising-free service is now in its fifth year and offers more than 100 games and activities.
• Family Web Site Standard of Excellence — Awarded to FamilyFun.com (www.familyfun.com). Produced in partnership with FamilyFun Magazine, the site combines editorial content with interactive elements and suggestions for offline family activities under the banner Great Ideas, Practical Advice, Fun Stuff To Do.
• Movie Web Site Standard of Excellence — Awarded to Movies.com (www.movies.com), providing movie fans with news from rumor through release, reviews, show times and ticket sales.
Disney Online is divided into neighborhoods, specially designed for each member of the family. These include Disney’s Blast, a premium subscription service, as well as Shopping, Vacations, Playhouse, Kids Island and Entertainment.
Campbell-Ewald Advertising took Best of Show for its work on Accelerate Your Life, NAVY, which also won Best Government Agency Web Site.
