Pete van Roden has been named the new VP of themed entertainment at nonprofit educational organization Sesame Workshop. The newly created position will report to Karen Gruenberg, executive VP of content. Van Roden will implement innovative and creative content approaches for the company’s global themed entertainment business.
Before this promotion, Van Roden served as executive producer and project manager for the Sesame Street 4D Movie Attraction that opened last month at Universal Studios in Japan. He has also worked as a freelance producer and consultant to many technology companies, including bigchalk.com and as president and CEO of HomeworkCentral.com. Van Roden spent six years with the Jim Henson Company as senior VP of production and themed entertainment where he oversaw the production on film and TV shows such as Bear in the Big Blue House. He also managed themed programing at Disney and is an Emmy winner for his work in sports programming.
