Stargate: SG-1, Predator Inspire New Games

MGM’s popular Stargate: SG-1 series, which airs on the Sci Fi Channel and in syndication will be the basis of a new game published by Austrian outfit JoWooD Productions Software, according to industry trades.

According to the deal, MGM gives JoWooD the license to make a number of games based on the series and its upcoming spinoff, Stargate: Atlantis. Because this international publishing agreement is in its earliest stages, no specific release date has been set.

The news comes on the heels of Vivendi Universal Games announcing the release of its new Predator game later this year.  Because two Alien vs Predator games have already been published, the new game will not be considered a direct tie-in to the upcoming movie, but it will certainly benefit from the synergy created by the new theatrical release. The pic’s writer-director Paul W. S. Anderson has also helmed the video-game adaptations of Mortal Combat and Resident Evil.
