CBBC in Tune with 19 and Create’s Hipster & Jack

Create Media Ventures and 19 Entertainment announced yesterday the first pre-sale of their new 2D animated co-production Hipster & Jack to the U.K.’s CBBC. Michael Carrington, head of animation and co-production at CBBC, picked up the initial 30×14 episodes of the series for broadcast in 2007.

Hipster & Jack goes on the road with a hilarious hippo and Jack Russell terrier duo, an oddball combo of struggling musicians trying to hit it big in the business. With great beats, giggle-worthy punch lines and the excitement of possible fame and fortune, Hipster and Jack are an animated throwback to The Blues Brothers. "We’ve been looking for a smart comedy series to complement our 6-9 slate, and Hipster & Jack fits the bill admirably," Carrington notes. "Not only has it got two very compelling characters, but the musical element adds an original dimension. It also supports CBBC’s current strategy of investing in home-grown production and promoting the British animation industry."
