London-based Chapman Entertainment debuted its high velocity stop frame animated series Roary the Racing Car at MIPCOM Jr. on Saturday Oct. 15. The launch of this second project for the family friendly production house comes on the heels of its widely successful preschool property, Fifi and the Flowertots.
Chapman delivers the 52×10 Roary the Racing Car targeting preschool boys in hopes of balancing the gender appeal of its catalogue, as Fifi has proven popular with girls. Currently Chapman is seeking international pre-sales for Roary with Target Entertainment as the distribution agent for the show in all territories other than the U.K. and North America.
For the little ones with a need for speed, Roary the Racing Car takes viewers on a ride at Silver Hatch racetrack with Roary, a bubbly young racecar who has a fun crew of fast-moving automobile friends. Racing legend Sir Stirling Moss narrates the series and comedian Peter Kay provides the voice for Big Chris the mechanic, a father figure for the motorized youngsters whose curiosity and energy often leads them into hairy situations.
Chapman Entertainment managing director Gregg Lynn will be executive producer on Roary, which has stop-frame animation originated by David Jenkins and designed and developed by Keith Chapman, creative director at Chapman Entertainment.
