BOXX APEXX 4 Shows Love for Autodesk Maya Software

Austin-based workstation and render node developer BOXX Technologies reports that its new BOXX APEXX 4 workstation has been optimized to deliver increased versatility and performance for vfx artists using Autodesk’s Maya software. This personal workstation is billed as the only system based on four Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors specifically targeted at the vfx space.

‘The BOXX APEXX 4 workstation surpassed our expectations when running Autodesk Maya 7 software,’ says Kevin Tureski, engineering director for Maya software at Autodesk. ‘We were able to load a massive scene, consisting of millions of polygons and manipulate it in ways that were truly stunning. The performance scalability that APEXX 4 consistently delivered was impressive. A complex fluids animation using the Maya software renderer pegged all the CPUs to 100% usage and completed the job much faster than we’ve ever seen.’

Powered up with next-generation Hyper-Transport technology and integrated Memory Controllers in each processor, BOXX APEXX 4 delivers top-notch performance scaling across eight cores. The incredibly fast data interconnect between CPUs reduces rendering time to mere seconds and provides record-breaking speed when running today’s most widely used software.

In addition, BOXX APEXX 4’s architecture is delivered in a quiet and compact tower chassis that accommodates a great range of storage configurations including 7+ TB of local storage for instant access to large CG files and speedy fast I/O for high bandwidth add-on cards.
