Top preschooler toons Thomas and Friends and Bob the Builder are getting a CG makeover.
HIT Entertainment announced today that Thomas & Friends has begun preproduction on a new CG series in conjunction with Nitrogen Studios in Canada. The new series will debut in late 2009 on PBS Kids in the United States and Five Milkshake! in the United Kingdom.
The CG Bob the Builder is in preproduction with SD Entertainment in Los Angeles, and also is set to debut in late 2009 on PBS Kids and the U.K.’s CBeebies.
“With our world-renowned production partners Nitrogen, SD Entertainment and CGCG, we felt it was the right time to refresh and update these loveable characters in CGI and take Bob and Thomas into a new era,” says Christopher Skala, executive producer and SVP of production and programming at HIT Entertainment.
